If you’re looking to get into the vape pen business you’ve probably seen just how tedious the process of filling oil cartridges can get using only basic equipment. Using a normal syringe may have worked in the past for filling a few carts or pods, but what do you do when those cartridges enter the high hundreds and even thousands per day?
It’s time to upgrade. If you plan on selling distillate cartridges in bulk, time becomes a very precious resource and those manual cartridge syringes aren’t going to cut it. That’s why so many have opted to go with the CoolJarz HotShot Cartridge Filling Machine for their cartridge business to streamline their production.
If you’ve been using nothing but manual cartridge fillers, you probably don’t think that number is possible without some giant factory line. However, the CoolJarz HotShot is much simpler as well as more portable than those automatic machines.
The HotShot cartridge filler has a semi-automatic design made for speed and precision. We’ve taken the simplicity of hand held cartridge fillers, and the automation of big box fillers and combined them into a better product.
The HotShot’s semi manual design allows users to take the 510 carts often packaged within Styrofoam blocks and fit them perfectly into our speed tray for quick filling. So quick, you can fill a single cartridge in less than a second with the click of a button.
The Hotshot is able to produce filled 510 cartridges so fast by automating the shot size of each dispense so you just have to click a button to get the perfect amount of distillate within each shot.
Our cartridge filler machine can dispense shots from as small as .33ml to as large as 1.5ml as well as anything in-between. Our custom shots feature allows you to adjust how much each tick dispenses by as little as .01ml for ultimate accuracy.
This means you can use our cartridge filling machine with almost any 510 Cartridge size. Whether it’s a .5ml CCell cartridge or a 1ml Liberty X cartridge. CCell TH205’s and CCell TH2’s can be filled perfectly with the click of a button. That’s not all though, cartridges of different material can also be filled by the A-1o HotShot such as ceramic cartridges, metal carts, glass, and hybrids.
This cartridge’s fillers automatic measuring system also works with almost any viscosity distillate as well. The HotShot 1500 is capable of working with oils in the viscosity of olive oil, to glycerin, to honey. Some cartridge fillers on the market could never dream of going to viscosities that high.
Our HotShot 1500 is so powerful, it can process distillate oils cut as low as 3-percent terps. You’re getting an all-in-one powerhouse of production and speed when you get the HotShot 1500 cartridge filling machine.
Conclusion
510 threaded vaporizer cartridges are dominating the cannabis oil market and are expected to for quite a while. Get an oil cartridge filler machine that can fill these popular carts quickly and in bulk. If you have 510 cartridges, there’s no better option on the market than the CoolJarz HotShot 1500 Cartridge Filler Machine.

Once you have put together your HotShot™ Cartridge filler Machine, you’re going to want to calibrate it to the settings you would like for your specific oil and cartridge size. If you still need help putting together your HotShot™ 1500, check out this guide. If not, let’s get started on calibrating your cartridge filler.
Calibrating Your Oil Cartridge Filler
You’re going to want to first turn on your HotShot™ system by activating the surge strip you plugged your transformer into. Next, turn on your Anova heating element by pressing the red button located on the front of the display panel. A note, you can switch readings between Fahrenheit and Celsius by holding this button.
You can then add your desired oil into the oil tank and cap it with the lid. The tank is capable of holding up to 1 liter of oil.
Next, you can adjust the system’s operating temperature by moving the thumb wheel located on the Anova, up and down. During your first set up, we recommend heating your Anova to the maximum 170 degrees Fahrenheit and set the onboard heat switch. This is important because the heated actual oil temperature will be anywhere from twenty to thirty degrees lower than the Anova setting depending on the viscosity of the oil used. You can use a heat gun to determine the actual oil temperature then adjust the Anova as necessary to reach your desired oil temperature.
Once the A-10 System is activated, the screen will light up. However, the HotShot™’s screen will not show operational controls until the system and oil are fully heated. If you try operating the system before the system is fully heated a “waiting for heater” signal will display. When operational controls appear on the touchscreen, the A-10 is ready for use.
You can use the touchscreen for all inputs. First, choose the viscosity most similar to your type of oil. There are options of olive oil, glycerine, and honey. Next choose a shot size between three options: .33 grams, .5 grams, and 1 grams. Grams are equal to ml so a .5ml cartridge can be filled with .5 grams and so on. You can also choose a custom setting as well.
You can also adjust the fill speed of the HotShot™, there are 5 speeds to choose from. Finally, enter the final end count of shots you want to disperse. Once your end count is reached, the HotShot™ will stop the flow of oil into the system’s needle. You can press “Hold to reset” to zero out the reading.
Once you have entered in all of the required information we recommend testing the shot output per tick. Different heats, and oil viscosities will lead to slight differences in shot size. We recommend testing by measuring how much is first dispersed, then adjusting your shot size accordingly. The HotShot™’s shot measurements can be changed by .01 increments and will be memorized for the rest of your batch. Once you have the right amount, you’re ready to start filling carts!

The CoolJarz™ HotShot Oil Cartridge Filling Machine is one of the most popular filler machines on the market. If you don’t have one yet, you’re probably wondering how easy it is to set up. Luckily the process isn’t difficult and you’ll be filling cartridges in no time with this easy set up guide.
Setting Up Your Cartridge Filler
If this is your first time using the CoolJarz™ HotShot you’ll be going through a few procedures to have it working optimally at first. One of the first steps will be adding in the bottle of blue heat transfer fluid into the Anova reservoir. Once you have poured the entire bottle, slide the Anova heating element into the reservoir.
Next, mount our black non-stick oil tank onto the A10 system. You can do this by aligning the white tube at the bottom of the oil tank into the the allocated spot on the A10 system and turning to lock.
Afterwards, you’re going to be installing the Injection Needles onto the A10 System. We have couple different needle sizes included with the A10. We recommend going with the shorter of the needles if possible for your oil to lessen pressure on the internal system. Installing the needle simply requires hand screwing it into the nose of the A-1o and tightening it with the blue plastic thumb socket within the kit.
Next up, is installing your selected fill switch. The Hotshot 1500 has two options for fill switches. The first is hand button operated speed tray, or the foot activated fill pedal dispenser. Each can be connected to the USB port located on the left side of the A-10.
Finally, connecting the power source. Plug the power transformer into the rear of the A-10. Next, plug the transformer and the Anova into a tri-pronged power surge strip that is rated at least 10 Amps.
Conclusion
There you have it, that’s all you need to do to put together your A-10 HotShot cartridge filler machine. The next step is going to be calibrating the settings of your cartridge filling machine. Don’t worry, that process is as simple as this one. To view a tutorial on that, click here!

Vaporizers have become a popular option amongst cannabis enthusiasts due to their convenience and discretion. They go by many names such as vape pens, carts, Stiizys and so on. With all the different names, there are also quite a bit of differences between each term as well.
These differences may seem small at first, but with with many cannabis aficionados these small differences can mean a lot to what they are looking for in a vaporizer. Here, we’ll go into the various types of vaporizers and cartridge terms you’ll often see in the market.
Vaporizers, Vape Pens, and Batteries
Vape Pens
THC vaporizers are most commonly known and sold as vape pens. When someone is referring to a vape pen, they’re most likely talking about the vaporizer as a whole. Vaporizers can be used for anything from nicotine fluid to cannabis oil. THC and CBD Pens are often comprised of the oil cartridge and the battery used to heat the oil but there are other kinds as well.
THC Oil Vape Pens
THC Oil vape pens are one of the more common vaporizers for consuming cannabis. These pens are usually made up of an THC oil or distillate cartridge and a rechargeable battery or sold as a whole disposable pen.
There are a number of benefits to using a rechargeable battery versus a disposable pen. For one, rechargeable batteries can fit different cartridges of the same type, allowing you to interchange different flavors whenever you’d like. The upfront cost of buying a rechargeable pen and battery may be more but afterwards you won’t have to re-buy the battery and just switch out the cartridges themselves.
They’re also much less wasteful than single use disposable pens because you’re not throwing away the whole pen each time you finish. Finally, rechargeable pens are known to give better hits than rechargeable ones because you can keep the battery to high levels whenever you want.
However, there are some benefits to going with a disposable vape pen if needed. For one, the upfront cost of a disposable pen is going to be less than buying a rechargeable one for the first time. Or perhaps you’re traveling and left your rechargeable one at home. Overall, depending on your habits, either can be best for you.
Pods, Carts and Cartridges
For those opting for rechargeable pens, you’re going to want to know the different types of cartridges you can fit for your battery. A vape cart is a glass cartridge pre-filled with a gram or half-gram of cannabis oil. These are also measured in 1-ml or .5ml units.
Some of the most popular cartridges are known as 510 threaded carts. This refers to how the cart fits into the vape pens battery and are shaped in a cylindrical container like a pen. These are also referred often as CCell Carts due to the popularity of the CCell brand. However, there are also Pods that are slightly wider and shorter versions of these same containers kind of reminiscent of a storage USB.
Knowing what type of cartridge you have is important for getting a replacement cart for your battery. Obviously a Stiizy Pod wouldn’t fit into a 510 vape pen and vice versa.
Conclusion
Vape Pens and cartridges can be confusing at first glance. However, all it takes is a bit of experience purchasing some to get the hang of things. If you’re still not sure, we recommend asking for advice when at a dispensary and we’re sure they’ll help you out.

When it comes to cartridge filling machines, there’s a lot of options on the market. We at CoolJarz know our favorite cartridge filler but to figure out which one fits best for you, you’re going to want to ask yourself a number of questions.
Some of these questions may be for one, what is my budget? How many cartridges do I need to fill a day? Does my type of oil work with this machine? These are just a few things to think about when choosing your oil filler machine.
Which Oil Filling Machine for My Business?
If there was a best oil filling machine for every business this would be a short article. So let’s go over some of the factors you may consider before purchasing as well as the oil filler machines that fit best.
Price of Cartridge Filling Machines.
Not the most important factor but always the first on our minds is price! If you can’t afford to buy a high end machine you may be limited to more beginner methods for filling your oil cartridges.
Figuring out how much you are willing to spend on your equipment can put you in different categories of oil filling machines you can use for your operation.
Cart Fillers Under $1000
If your budget is under a thousand dollars you’re most likely going to want a manual filling gun. You can usually get these guns for under 5 hundred dollars and they can get the job done if you work hard and long enough. Your labor over the period of one year can easily for for a Hotshot 750 or 1500.
We’ll go over the disadvantages to these fillers in later sections of this article but if you’re just starting and on a low budget and a ton of free time then these guns may work for you!
Premium Cartridge Filler Machines
If you have a smarter budget and want to get straight to streamlining your oil cartridge business then we would recommend skipping over the slow, inaccurate oil filler guns and switch over to a semi-automatic or automatic oil cartridge machine.
These machines will end up costing you less in the long run given how much less time they take to fill up cartridges but if you aren’t ready to spend in the range of $9000 then watch the video on how you can make the machine pay for itself.
CoolJarz HotShot Made in The USA
Production
Speaking of efficiency, the best cartridge filler machine for you will depend on how many carts are you looking to produce per day? The reward for spending more on the equipment is usually quicker and easier filling production.
You’re also going to want to think about Manual, Semi-Automatic, and Automatic cartridge filling machines and what are the benefits and drawbacks to each.
Manual Filler Machines
Manual filler machines such as the heat guns mentioned earlier, while they are the least expensive, are also the slowest and most inefficient method available.
The benefits to these filler guns are that they are inexpensive, good for small operations, and they don’t take up a lot of space. They’re also relatively easy to learn how to use. We made our Cooljarz Hotshot so that just about any employee can operate without a supervisor all day long.
There are quite a number of disadvantages to these cartridge filler guns such as slow production, inaccurate measuring, accidental spilling and chance of injury.
Using a filler gun involves filling a heated syringe type mechanism and pushing out the oil one by one into each cartridge manually. This can be a difficult process as it becomes harder to manually get the same amount with each squeeze of the trigger.
The gun itself also becomes very hot and you risk burning yourself due to how close you are to the heated area. Even then, many cartridge filler guns may not be able to heat thick, higher viscosity oils.
Finally, even when everything is done accurately and safely, you’re spending much more time versus a semi-automatic or automatic filler machine.
Semi-Automatic oil cart filler machines avoid most of the problems of manual cartridge filler machines and are easier to set up compared to fully automatic machines.
Semi-Automatic filler machines such as the CoolJarz A10 Hotshot simplify the cartridge filling process by automating the amount of oil you want per cartridge and dispersing that amount with the click of a button.
With the Hotshot you are able to set the exact amount of heat for your oil. Higher viscosity oils require more heat to disperse but you also don’t want to evaporate the terpenes in the oil in the process.
Instead of aiming a gun into each individual cartridge, you can bring the cartridges to a stationary needle and click a button to disperse. This allows users to fill about 1,500 carts per hour. Time is money so lets get you on a Hotshot and start making money.
That means you could fill about 12,000 cartridges in any normal work day. However, even if you aren’t trying to fill that many, you do have the luxury of filling whatever amount you do have in a quick and efficient manner.
The downsides to a semi-automatic filler machine is you will still need someone to manually operate the machine. Although this process is much faster with a semi-automatic filler, an automatic filler machine will require less manpower.
Then once again, the initial cost of a machine such as this one is about $8900 so you will need to have that kind of budget to get one.
Automatic Cartridge Filler Machines
If you want to have your cartridges filled nearly automatically, there are machines capable of filling carts by the batch. These machines have many of the benefits of semi-automatic filler machines and automates the dispersion of oil even further.
The benefits to automatic cartridge filler machines can often range depending on each brand. Some machines are capable of filling multiple carts at once, require little manpower, and can overall make the process less tedious.
The disadvantages of an automatic system could be things such as knowing how to program your device for your setup. Some machines make the process easy but then you may have to use their own cartridges.
There are many other concerns to think of as well. Such as letting a machine run automatically also runs the risk of an error occurring with nobody there to catch it.
Do you have the actual space to run a large automatic machine? Unless you have a factory like space, its going to be difficult.
Conclusion
The best cartridge filling machine may be the best for one company but not the right fit for you. We at CoolJarz try to make the cartridge filling process as easy as possible for everyone but even then some methods are going to suit others more than ours. That’s okay when we consider everything we need out of our equipment.
