Choosing the Right Cartridge Filler

The decision on which cartridge filling machine to invest in hinges on several factors: the scale of your operation, the nature of the products you’re filling, budget constraints, and future scalability. Engaging directly with manufacturers for demos and consultations can provide insights beyond specifications, helping you to envision how each solution fits into your production ecosystem.

Cartridge Filler Machine Reviews

A comparison of the most popular cartridge filling machines and devices on the market. There are many popular cartridge fillers out there and these six tend to be the most preferred from companies small to large.

Cartidge-Filling-Machine-Compare-1

The Fifty Shot

Fifty-Shot Positives

The Fifty-Shot is an entry-level and affordable cartridge filler device for cannabis businesses that wish to dip their feet into vapes and concentrates. At $399.99 for the full Fifty-Shot Kit and a 2-day lead-time, this cartridge filler is not only easy to procure, but also easy to use. Fifty-Shot gives full disclosure on their site as to the price and it is available to purchase.

Fifty-Shot Negatives

The Fifty-Shot is going to be the slowest of these machines by a large margin. Each shot must be dispensed in a fashion similar to a caulk gun so it will require an operator with a steady hand. The capacity of the Fifty Shot only carries 25mL so you will be refilling the gun somewhat often. This device also struggles with higher viscosity concentrates and requires alternative heating elements if you decide to purchase additional oil cylinders.

The CoolJarz HotShot 1500

HotShot 1500 Positives

Highest value cartridge filler at half the price. The HotShot Cartridge filler is a semi-automatic filler machine capable of filling about 1500 cartridges per hour. At about $16,000, this filler does everything from low to high viscosity concentrates, distillates, and Delta 8 varieties. The HotShot is well made from 7075 Aluminum and comes with everything you need on day one to fill cartridges.  It is simple enough to use without vendor training, however, we found support through both videos on their website and phone/video conferencing support during the workweek. This machine is manufactured in the United States and comes with a US-based service warranty.  CoolJarz gives full disclosure on their site as to the price and it is available to purchase.

HotShot 1500 Negatives

The HotShot 1500 is a semi-automatic cartridge filler. Meaning, you will need someone to continually operate it. This also means the production you get out of the machine will be highly dependent on the one operating the system.

Convectium Shark 710

Shark 710 Positives

The Shark 710 is an automatic cartridge filler with a direct draw oil travel path and an 800mL oil capacity. At 1,000 plus cartridges per hour on an automatic machine, you’ll be able to fill a lot of cartridges with minimal effort.  The Version 8 gives you a fully enclosed unit that keeps contaminants out of your product

Shark 710 Negatives

The Shark 710 will require vendor training to get you started. With the setup and programming being a little more complicated, you won’t be able to just hand this The Shark 710 is a large free-standing machine filling up 12 square feet and weighing 115lbs and will take a good amount of room in your shop.  The screen, dials, and tray adjustments appear to be complicated and will require vendor training to get you started. With the setup and programming being a little more complicated, you won’t be able to just hand this machine off to anyone.  The Shark 710 uses 100 needles at one time with a direct draw injection, so being precise is crucial with the programming and requires additional trays to meet the 1,000 filled per hour.  One slight miscalculation and you’ll have both machine damage and product loss.  Convectium does not give full disclosure on their site as to the price and it is not available to buy now.

The Thompson Duke ACF-1

thompson duke ACF-1
ACF-1 Positives

The Thompson Duke ACF-1 is an automatic cartridge filler made in the USA. It is widely distributed to different retailers and is one of the more popular fillers on the market due to its distribution.  This filler ranks 3rd in the least amount of space needed to operate at 6 square feet and is capable of filling anywhere of 500 to 1000 cartridges per hour with the push of a button.

ACF-1 Negatives

The Thompson Duke ACF-1 is the third most expensive of these machines at an initial price of about $25,000. However, there is an additional 4% fee for credit card transactions and a paid training session is required at a price of $500.00 to $3500.00 depending on whether you’d like something in person or online. You will also need to purchase an air compressor separately.

The training is also an indicator of how complex the setup for the machine is as well. Depending on where purchased, lead times seem to be anywhere from 6-8 weeks upon order.

The travel path of your product is also middle of the road at 12”+ which can sometimes cause blockages and heat loss within the system and end up with a loss of product.  Thompson Duke does not give full disclosure on their site as to the price and it is not available to buy now.

VapeJet Vape-Jet

vape-jet
Vape-Jet Positives

The Vape-Jet is an automatic cartridge filler capable of filling up to 1,000 cartridges per hour. This filler comes enclosed within its box-like structure to prevent any outside contaminants from getting to your product. This filler also has one of the largest of the equipped oil tanks on this list at 1200mL.

Vape-Jet Negatives

The Vape Jet is the second most expensive on this list at a starting price of $30,000.00. You will also need to purchase separately nitrogen tanks, a regulator valve, and compatible hoses capable of withstanding 20-60psi.

There is also vendor training required to operate at an unbeknownst price. Also, although the Vape-Jet sports the second-largest oil tank of the fillers, an additional tank runs about $1250. Lead time for this machine is also about 8 weeks so it will take a while to obtain.

This machine also has a +12″ product travel path similar to the Thompson Duke ACF-1 which also runs the same risk of lost product and clogs. Vape Jet does not give full disclosure on their site as to the price and it is not available to buy now.

ATG Pharma RoboCAP RL-30X

atg filler
ATG Pharma RoboCAP RL-30X Positives

One of the fastest fillers on this list, the ATG Pharma RoboCAP RL-30X listed at being able to fill at least 1200 cartridges a day at minimum. This machine is made in Canada so your ship time could be a little more forgiving than other fillers in this list.

The RoboCAP has the largest oil tank options by far with capacities from 1 liter to 10 gallons if needed. This machine also features custom-built fill trays to your specific cartridge needs so no need to worry about compatibility.

ATG Pharma RoboCAP RL-30X Positives Negatives

The RoboCAP RL-30X is the most expensive on this list at a starting price of $33,692.00 which includes a $400 crate fee. This also doesn’t seem to include the custom-built filling trays. Despite being made in Canada, you are still looking at about 6-8 weeks lead time to get one excluding shipping.

Like the other automatic cartridge fillers, vendor training is needed to operate this machine as well.  This automatic filler has multiple modular pieces and requires a large work surface to operate.

This machine sports the largest travel path of +30″ so heat loss can happen quick so thicker oils like Delta 8 may have trouble with this filler. ATG Pharma does not give full disclosure on their site as to the price and it is not available to buy now.

Conclusion

Cartridge filler machines can vary quite a bit and some may work better depending on your own needs. Things like price, lead-time, production, service/warranty and the machine’s overall capabilities can all be important factors of what may work best for you.

Filling Delta 8 Carts With The HotShot Cartridge Filler Machine

Delta 8 THC has taken the industry by storm. There is just about a Delta 8 replacement for anything you would expect from regular Delta 9 THC products. There’s Delta 8 flower, Delta 8 edibles, and of course there’s also Delta 8 vape carts.

Delta 8 can also be processed into an oil like form making it perfect for vaporizing just like any other THC cartridge. The process of filling this oil into vape cartridges is also the same. This, as we know, can be very tedious in large quantities. Luckily, CoolJarz HotShot Cartridge Filler Machine will also work with Delta 8 extracts and distillates for vape cartridges.

Accurate Dispensing for Any Delta 8 Distillate Viscosity

Delta 8 distillates and concentrates can be filled and used in vape cartridges in the same ways as Delta 9. There are very little differences in viscosity between the two.

However, more heat isn’t going to solve all your problems. There is such thing as too much heat and you do run a risk of burning your distillate CBD oil. This is why the HotShot™ works so well. The HotShot™ allows you to adjust the heat in small increments so you can get the perfect temperature for your CBD distillate without burning the contents.

Heat’s not the only factor though, you need a powerful dispensing machine as well to fill high viscosity distillate at lower temperatures. Long travel machines, with endless tubes often can’t make the cut and air pressure based filling machines are a pain to deal with it. The HotShot™ is built with as little travel as possible and that leads to less wasted material than similar machines on the market.

One of The Fastest Cartridge Fillers On the Market

The HotShot™ isn’t just accurate, it’s also fast. Every cartridge can be filled in a single click of a button allowing for rapid filling of each of your Delta 8 cartridges. And of course every fill is accurate based on the amount you would like dispersed per tick. Also, our oil tank is capable of holding more than 1 liter of distillate at a time. Which is 1000ml of oil. That’s nearly double and quadruple the capacity of those filler guns you see.

The HotShot 1500 actually comes with 2 tanks at purchase. Our tanks can easily be switched out in seconds once one tank runs empty, you have a second ready to go. This keeps your production running smoother for longer without having to refill your filler. This also makes it easy to switch between different strains if you have multiple.

Conclusion

Overall, if you’re trying to mass produce Delta 8 cartridges, this machine is a must have. No other Delta 8 distillate cartridge filler is going to have the speed and production value as the CoolJarz HotShot. The CBD Distillate Cartridge Filler Machine

CBD distillate cartridges and vapes are a great way for users to get their CBD intake in a way many cannabis users are already familiar with. While CBD e-juice or vape-juice is very popular, many vape users still prefer the taste and feel of that marijuana concentrate you get from distillate without the THC.

If you’re familiar with filling CCell cartridges or Pax style pods with THC distillate, then filling these same carts and pods with CBD distillate should be a walk in the park. However, if you’ve only ever filled vape pens with e-juice, it might be a little harder to make the switch to distillates.

Obviously, distillates and concentrates are going to be much thicker than vape-juice more often than not and you’re going to need the right machine for the job. That’s why CoolJarz™ has developed our own CBD distillate cartridge filler machine that makes using even the thickest and most viscous of distillates, easy to fill. And with that ease, comes speed. If you’re looking to fill thousands of CBD distillate cartridges in a day, the HotShot is the way to go.

Accurate Dispensing for Any CBD Distillate Viscosity

Getting distillate into cartridges can be especially tricky because at room temperature, many distillates are very thick and difficult to dispense. That’s why you need heat to loosen up the molecules in distillate making it more runny.

Vaping CBD e-Juice vs CBD Oil Cartridges

CBD has made a recent boom in the retail industry and I’m sure you’re seeing more and more CBD products over the counter than ever. While their are many ways to consume CBD I wanted to feature one of the most popular: Vaping. Vaping has grown popular not only for nicotine and THC consumption but CBD as well.

In-fact, vaping CBD has become very similar to these other two substances in terms of consumption. This is because CBD is usually vaped in either 2 forms as either e-Juice similar to nicotine vape-juice and the CBD Oil Cartridges that are reminiscent of THC oil carts. While both of these are effective ways of intaking CBD, what exactly are the differences and which is right for you? Let’s get into it.

CBD E-Juice

CBD E-Juice or CBD Vape Juice, may be the more popular vaping method for CBD at the moment. CBD vape juice is usually CBD infused into an additive such as vegetable glycerine or propylene glycol with added flavors like you would a Juul Pod. According to Leafly.com “The CBD found in vape juice is derived from hemp. Hemp is the preferred plant for infusion because cannabis plants containing less than 0.3% THC can be grown, processed, and infused into products without the legal restrictions surrounding products high in THC”

CBD vape juice can be bought separately within little bottles for use with reusable vaporizers as well disposable one time use pens. As the case with any vaping, choosing disposable or reusable is up to personal preference although reusable vaporizers seem to be the more sustainable option.

CBD Vape Juice often has a wide variety of natural and artificial flavors added so the taste possibilities become endless. CBD vape juice often doesn’t have any other cannabinoids in it so you may not get many of the health benefits you would from other methods of consumption.

CBD Oil Cartridges

CBD Oil Cartridges are the latter of the two vaping methods for CBD and is similar to vaping THC extract concentrates. This is because the CBD is extracted in similar methods as THC such as by creating CBD distillates, CO2 extraction or flash frozen live resin. CBD oil is derived from the cannabis plant we all know, that is referred to as marijuana. What’s left over after extraction is a very similar “oil” which can be dabbed or vaped.

CBD distillates and live resins can be purchased by themselves, within a cartridge, or as a whole disposable pen just as with e-juice or THC concentrates. This form is often thicker and more viscous than traditional e-juice and will also often have extra substances to make the oil easier to work with.

CBD Oil cartridges have flavors based on the the strain of the marijuana plant it was derived from similar to THC cartridges. These strains’ have flavors based on their terpene profile and you can usually expect a CBD Maui Wowie to taste similar to its THC counterpart.

Which Ones Right For You?

Of course what’s right for you will depend on what you’re looking for. If you want to vape a variety of strong flavors while getting your CBD I would go for the vape-juice pens and bottles. If you like that classic marijuana taste without the THC but more of the benefits of cannabinoids then CBD oil cartridges might be better suited for you.

Both are viable ways of getting your CBD intake and sometimes you might be in the mood for one or the other. Generally, CBD Oil Cartridges will cost more upfront than CBD e-juice but in my experience, the Oil carts tend to last longer.

Conclusion

I hope this post helped explain the differences between CBD vape-juice and CBD oil cartridges a little better. We at CoolJarz know a thing or two about vape cartridges as we’ve developed our own CBD cartridge filler machine! If you own a business and filling CBD cartridges is a hassle, you might need our HotShot CBD cartridge filler machine.

How To Fill a Vape Cartridge with Distillate

Vaping is one of the most popular and convenient methods for enjoying oil distillates. If you have a supply of distillate you’re either going to use a dab rig to consume it or a vape cartridge. However, you might be wondering how exactly do you get the distillate in the cartridge in the first place?

No worries, it’s actually a very simple process that doesn’t take very long. Whether you’re someone just looking to fill their own personal cartridges, or you’re looking to mass produce many cartridges for distribution, we’ll show you the general principles of how it all works.

What You’ll Need

Supplies
  • Distillate Oil
  • Cartridges
  • Syringe
  • Heat Source
Options
  • Terpenes
  • Filler Machine

Lucky for us all, filling vape cartridges is often done by hand or small machines that just about anybody can use. To fill one vape cartridge with distillate you’ll pretty much just need the oil itself, the cartridge, a syringe, and a heat source.

The syringe will be for injecting the distillate into the cartridge reservoir and the heat source makes the distillate more fluid to make it easier to inject. Most cartridge filler machines act as both a heat source and an injection syringe and they can make the filling process much faster than a single syringe. But if you’re only filling your own, you probably won’t need one.

Terpenes are special additions you can add to your distillates to give it back the aromas and flavors that were lost during the distillate extraction process.

Instructions

1. Unscrew your cartridge to get to the empty tank, most 510 threaded CCell and Liberty cartridges can be disassembled by twisting the components.

2. Warm your distillate. There’s many ways to warm your distillate, depending on the viscosity of it will be how much heat you’ll want to apply to it. The whole point of heating your distillate is get it into a more fluid liquid form.

Don’t go too hot, you can warm your distillate with indirect heat until it becomes easy to take in with your syringe. If you have cartridge filler machine, you should have the option to adjust the temperature of the oil within. Temperatures of around 100-140 degrees Fahrenheit are most common but will ultimately depend on your distillate.

Once your distillate has reached your desired fluidity, you can add your terpenes. The amount to add is usually anywhere from 5% to 15% of the amount of distillate you’re using, so a little goes a long way. Your terpenes will also affect the viscosity of the oil as well. The more terpenes, the thinner your oil will come out. Stir the mixture to get an even distribution.

3. Once your distillate has been heated to a liquid form, you can extract the oil into your syringe and then inject it into the reservoir of your cartridge. If you’re having a lot of trouble, your oil may not be hot enough yet or not enough terpenes.

If you’re using a cartridge filling machine, you can pour your oil into the device and adjust the shot settings to the specific amount you would like for each cartridge. You can then inject the oil the same way you would with a syringe but a button will activate the shot instead and you’ll have the perfect amount.

4. Once your cartridge is filled, you can cap them off with the same plastic caps they come with or seal it with a mouth piece. We recommend waiting about 12-24 hours to let the oil settle in and soak into the coils. After that, you’re done! You now have a perfectly usable oil distillate cartridge ready for vaping.

Conclusion

Filling distillate cartridges is relatively easy once you get the hang of it. We generally do not recommend reusing cartridges as they were made only to be used one time around and this can become wasteful of your oil as well as dangerous.

The Best Cartridge Filler Machine for CBD Oil

CBD cartridges are vape carts pre-filled with CBD vape juice or commonly said “CBD vape oil” Although, the contents of CBD vape cartridges do not contain any actual oil. Many CBD cartridges use popular 510 threading, meaning they’re compatible with all 510 thread batteries and standard vape pens. However, there are also CBD pods, which are similar to JUULs that have a similar filling process.

Filling cartridges with CBD oil is a similar process as distillate oils because of they use the same types of carts and pods as THC based oils. For the fastest, and most efficient way to fill your CBD oil cartridges, we recommend using either one of CoolJarz HotShot 750 and 1500 cartridge filling machines.

Fill Thousands of CBD Cartridges in a Day

CoolJarz HotShot Pro was built to help businesses streamline their production operation by making the tedious task of filling 510 cartridges and pods quick and easy. With our cartridge filling machine, you’ll be able to fill thousands of CBD carts a day with a single machine.

How Does the HotShot Cartridge Filler Work?

The HotShot cartridge filler has a semi-automatic design made for speed and precision. We’ve taken the simplicity of hand held cartridge fillers, and the automation of big box fillers and combined them into a better product.

The HotShot Pro is capable of dispersing anywhere from .33ml to 1.5ml of CBD juice per click of a button. Since most cartridges and pods are usually in sizes of .5ml and 1ml, you can instantly set the cartridge filler machine to these increments for an instantly filled cart with perfect amounts of CBD Oils.

Speaking of the button, it’s true, the HotShot™ Pro has a handheld button attached to our “Speed Tray” that disperses your CBD as soon as you click on it. Placing your cartridges within the speed tray is also very convenient because you’re able to keep them all in their vendor-supplied foam packaging ready for filling.

Also, since the tank is able to hold up to 1 liter of CBD vape juice at a time, you’re not constantly having to refill the machine. Compare that to some cartridge fillers that can only hold 25ml when ours can hold 1000 ml.

Best Filler Machine For Any CBD Cartridge Or Pod

The Hotshot is able to fill hemp oil cartridges so fast by automating the shot size of each dispense so you only have to tick a button to get the perfect amount of CBD juice within each shot.

Customizing Your Vape Cartridge Filling Machine

CoolJarz™ HotShot™ A-10 Oil Cartridge Filling Machine - Fast, Reliable, Precise, Nearly ZERO Waste! 7-1 screenshot

For high quality carts, those stock syringe filling machines won’t provide the production or precision to match your exact ratios and parameters for your distillate carts. You’ll need a customizable filler like the HotShot that can deliver the exact specification of unit within every dose. This gives speed and consistency while filling pods, and cartridges.

Customization is especially important for oil filling machines. Many distillate concentrates cartridge sizes have reached sizes some of these other filling machines cannot reach. Our cartridge filler machine has customizable shot sizes within .01ml increments anywhere from .33ml to 1.5ml for precision filling.

Manual and automatic oil fillers are both customizable options. However, a semi-automatic cartridge filler may be the best option for companies who would like speed and control of their cartridge filling process.

We’re trying to eliminate the waste in the cartridge filling process. With one of the lowest travels between our oil reservoir and filling needle, our filler machine uses one of the lowest amount of wasted material when used.

Many automatic filler machines have long tubes often a couple feet away from their filling needle. This causes backups to occur, and suddenly the material is unusable. With the HotShot, you’re using almost every drop of oil where it’s intended, in your cartridges.

Long Term Support

We’re also one of the most reliable cartridge filler developers on the market. Our HotShot 1500 has a 2 year warranty on all of its aluminum parts as well as a 1 year warranty on all of its electric, and pistons. If you ever were to have any trouble while using your machine, just call. We have a team to help you troubleshoot. Or you can bring your machine in for maintenance. We want our customers know they’re buying more than a product when they work with us.

What You’ll Need to Make Cannabis Gummies

These aren’t your grandparent’s edibles. In this day and age, you can put cannabis in just about any food and a recipe usually isn’t too hard to find on the internet. This includes THC and CBD cannabis gummies. Making your own infused gummies may be easier than you think.

Whether you’re a professional edible chef or an amateur making them for the first time, here’s what you’ll need to make your own cannabis gummies.

What Are Weed Gummies Made Of?

Infused gummies, like most other cannabis edibles are usually made with hash oil or a THC tincture. These are both concentrated forms of cannabis that extracts high amounts of THC from the flower. Hash oil is usually the stronger of the two and will often taste better but tinctures are generally easier to make. If you wish to skip the whole “turning marijuana flower into hash oil process” we recommend just buying the oil.

If you want to make your hash oil from bud, checkout these tutorials we’ve found on how to.

CBD gummies are pretty much only made with CBD oil which is similar to hash oil. Then of course you have the gummy itself. Marijuana gummies can be made in as many ways as regular gummy candy whether that be with artificial flavors, naturally, with real juice, fruit, and even vegan. Granted some methods may be harder to create than others, all these decisions can greatly affect the taste of the gummy.

Mixing gelatin, fruit flavoring, Lecithin, infused oil and water seems to be one of the most common recipes but feel free to change things up to get different tastes and textures. You can find these ingredients at most grocery stores in the baking aisle although lecithin may be near the vitamins sometimes.

Making THC and CBD Gummies

Making THC and CBD gummies doesn’t really require any special equipment although having some can help when mass producing them. You’ll pretty much just need regular kitchenware such as a bowl and something to mix the ingredients with.

Hopefully you also have a stove and refrigerator to heat the mixture and subsequently cool the gummies down. You’ll also want a silicon mold sheet to get the shape of your gummies in the form you’d like.

To dispense your gummies into your molds, you can use a regular kitchen baster and start injecting the liquid into candy molds one by one. Another manual device many candy makers use is a hand held candy depositor. There are even semi to automatic candy depositors available for small kitchens as well that fill gummy molds in bulk supplies very quickly.

Once all of the molds have been filled they’ll go into a refrigerator to cool and harden. Once the gummies settle and become firm, they’re taken out of the cooler to air dry for a bit and they’re ready to go.

Conclusion

Making marijuana gummies is an easy process. Once you have all of the ingredients and equipment on hand, pretty much anyone can do it. If you’re looking to mass produce gummies for a business or company, we would recommend getting an automatic candy depositor machine for faster filling.

If you haven’t tried making cannabis gummies before we recommend giving it a go. It’s a pretty fun process with a treat at the end. What Are THC and CBD Gummies?

Cannabis edibles have come a long way since your classic pot brownies. At this point, you can put cannabis in just about any food and a recipe usually isn’t too hard to find on the internet. These edibles are usually referred to as “infused” meaning the food probably has THC or CBD baked right in.

Some of the most popular edibles sold at dispensaries and on the market in general are gummy candies. Infused gummies are great for cannabis because they can taste great, it’s easy to control your portions, and they’re overall pretty convenient to carry.

Making THC and CBD Gummies

As said above, the process of making infused gummies is usually just mixing in the hash oil or tincture with the liquid form of the gummy recipe. Once everything has been heated and mixed, they can be dispensed into molds in a few different ways.

The cheapest and probably longest way could be to use a regular kitchen baster and injecting the liquid into candy molds one by one. Another manual device many candy makers use is a hand held candy depositor that can hold a bit more. There are even semi to automatic candy depositors available for small kitchens as well that fill gummy molds in bulk supplies.

Once all of the molds have been filled they’ll go into a refrigerator to cool and harden. Once the gummies settle and become firm, they’re taken out of the cooler to air dry for a bit and they’re ready to go.

Taking Cannabis Gummies

Most of the time, due to their small size you’re usually getting only a small amount of THC out of each gummy. But of course this is relative to eating an entire weed brownie. Most gummies will have anywhere from 5 to 30mg of THC per gummy. Most brands will have these labeled on the package and many states often have a limit to how much THC can actually be in an edible.

We would generally recommend taking 1 and see how you feel after about an hour or 2 and taking more if you feel like upping the dosage. Edibles will often last much longer than smoking or vaping cannabis giving highs for around 4 hours or more.

You’re also getting a different kind of high as well as other effects. Many describe edibles as more of a body high or a more intense feeling than smoking. There are people who enjoy the differences and others who don’t so it’s overall due to personal preference whether edibles are your thing or not.

Conclusion

Cannabis gummies are some of the most popular edibles on the market. If you walk into any dispensary there’s probably a good selection to choose from. It’s also not too hard to make cannabis gummies yourself at home. You would just need the right ingredients and equipment but anybody can do it.
